How does the site work?
UK Asia Dating provides a safe and secure way to find and meet single people who share your interest in animals, be they pets or animals in general. You choose a username and set up a profile describing yourself and the type of person you're hoping to meet. You can then view other member's profiles by searching the site and remember they will also be looking at yours. When you find someone that you like, you can then send them a message via the site knowing that your real name and email address are never shown so your privacy is always protected. This is the same for messages that you receive from other members. After a period of time, if things go well onsite, you'll usually end up exchanging your private contact details so that you can then arrange to meet up.

How easy is it to join?
Rather than some sites that ask for pages of information before you can look at the site, our philosophy is to ask for only a few basic details so that you can 'get going' as quickly as possible. We feel that once you've been on the site and seen what potential there is, then you'll be happy to go back and add a bit more to your profile as a first step in increasing your chances of finding someone special.

How much does it cost?
Presently UK Asia Dating is completely free as this is still a relatively new site. PetOwnersDating.com will be instituting a nominal charge for Platinum membership at some time in the future but members will be advised way in advance so that they can decide if they want to continue or leave the site. To repeat, one needs to upgrade to Platinum to send and read received messages however Platinum membership is presently free on this site.

How do I search?
The easiest way to search is to go to Quick Search on the top right of the Homepage. Indicate your gender and the gender you want to meet and then click the Go button. For more advanced search options, look to the top of the search results page. You can search on any combination of age group, distance from your location, animal interest, smoking or not, star sign, town, username and any keyword that might crop up in a member's profile.

How do I send a message?
When you view another member's profile you will see an envelope icon with 'Send message' next to it in the Actions Menu under the profile photo. Click on the text link, enter your message in the box and then send. You must be a Platinum member to send and read received messages.

How do I send a flirt?
This is like saying hi to another member and that you like the look of their profile. When you view that members profile you will see a heart icon with 'Send flirt' next to it in the Actions Menu under the profile photo. Click on the text link to send the flirt. You don't need to be a Platinum member to send a flirt.

How do I add someone to my hotlist?
These are the members that you have seen and are interested in but haven't yet contacted. When you view that member's profile you'll see a green tick icon with 'Add to Hotlist' next to it in the Actions Menu under the profile photo. Click on the text link to add this member to your hotlist. This person will know that you've added them to your list so it's actually another way of flirting as they can see that you're interested in them. This will make them have a look at your profile and perhaps return the flirt. You don't need to be a Platinum member to put someone on your Hotlist.

Search
Click on Search in the Main Menu and you will be shown a number of ideal matches. Click on the member's box to get their profile details. The default setting is to show first those members who were active most recently. You can dig deeper with a more advanced search by showing those nearer to your postcode and/or any other number of other search variables such as whether they smoke or not.

Messages
Click on Messages in the Main Menu to read new messages and reply to those new messages. New messages are shown as a number in brackets beside this link on the menu. Click on Messages and all your message strings will be shown. New messages, either a new string or a reply within an existing string, will be shown as an envelope with a yellow star. Once read, the icon will change to an opened envelope and the new message count will be reduced by one. To reply, simply enter text in the box above the message and click on Send Message. To read sent messages, click on the 'View sent messages' at the top right.

To delete messages, click on the dustbin next to the message. To protect the privacy of our members, message deletion is permanent so a message cannot be recovered once deleted.

To block a member, click on the blocking icon that is an upper body with a red x. To unblock is the reverse.

Flirts
Click on Flirts in the Main Menu to see who has flirted you. The number of new flirts are shown as a bracketed number beside this link on the Main Menu. Click on Flirts and you can see the history of flirts received. Click on 'Flirts sent' at the top right to see those members that you have flirted.

Hotlist
Click on Hotlist in the Main Menu and you'll be shown those members that you've put on your hotlist. Click on 'People who've Hotlisted me' at the top right and you'll see those members who've put you on their Hotlist.

Viewing History
Click on Viewing history in the Main Menu to see those members who've been checking out your profile. Click on 'People I've Viewed' at the top right to see those profiles you've looked at.

Edit Profile
Click on Edit Profile in the Main Menu to make changes to your description and other profile details. Changes are uploaded automatically but they are also flagged to Admin who check to ensure that these edits don't break the Terms and Conditions of the site. Remember to save your changes at the bottom of the Edit Profile page.

Photos
Click on Photos in the Main Menu to upload a photo as a Main Photo or a Library Photo. Library Photos can only be seen by Platinum members. If you add a new photo to Main Photo, then the existing Main Photo will move into the Library Photo section. You can also swap any Library Photo with a Main Photo by clicking on the 'main image?' link under the Library Photo.

Why should I create a full profile?
We try to make joining the site easy by asking for only for a few basic details for your profile. Going back to your profile when you have time and filling it out properly is the first step on the road to making you look 'attractive' to other members. It is the first impression that you make so spend a bit of time getting it right.

People who leave their profile in the short form get next to no contacts and few replies if they send messages as people do not trust an 'empty' profile. Let's face it, would you want to write or reply to someone with an 'empty' profile? The more time you take in putting together a good profile, the greater your chances of someone special.

How do I view my own profile?
To see your own profile, go to Edit Profile in the Main Menu and click on View Profile at the top right of the screen.

How do I edit my profile?
Go to Edit Profile in the Main Menu. Changes are uploaded automatically but they are also flagged to Admin who will check to ensure that these edits don't break the Terms and Conditions of the site. Remember to save your changes at the bottom of the Edit Profile page.

Why was an edit removed from my profile?
All edits to your profile are monitored by Admin. In most cases where an edit to the profile has broken our Terms and Conditions, the profile is deleted with no message being sent to the member. If it's considered a very minor infringement then Admin will just remove the edit from the profile. Again, no message is sent to the member so if you see your edit hasn't gone through then that means it wasn't accepted however it was decided to allow your profile to stay up.

Why was my profile deleted when I edited it?
All edits to your profile are monitored by Admin. In most cases where an edit to the profile has broken our Terms and Conditions then the profile is deleted with no message being sent to the member. Our Terms and Conditions give a complete list of what is not acceptable to be posted to a profile however some examples are:

personal contact details such as email address or mobile number
improper or offensive content be it sexual, religious or racial
advertising or commercial messages promoting a business
an excessive number of words written in texting format

To maintain all ex-members privacy when they leave, no records or any other information is kept on by Admin. This applies to both members who leave because they've found a match and those who's profiles are deleted by the site. This means that there is no point in writing to us if we've deleted your profile as we'll not be able to tell you why.

How do I hide my profile?
To prevent other members from knowing that you're online, go to Edit Profile in the Main Menu and click on Preferences at the top right of the screen. When you hide your profile, you can view profiles but yours can't be seen by other members. You have to be a Platinum member to be able to do this.

How do I delete my profile?
Go to Edit Profile in the Main Menu and click on 'Delete account' at the top right of the screen. Once you agree to delete, you will immediately lose access all the information associated with your account such as stored messages, Hotlists, Flirts and Viewed profiles. You cannot reopen a deleted account and more importantly, the data cannot be retrieved at a later date. You can of course start again and open another new account.

Should I attach a photo to my profile?
This is probably the most important step in putting together a good and attractive profile. You have a 70% higher chance of being contacted by someone when you do this as a lot of people these days only search on 'profiles with photos'. It also makes your profile more real as people can actually see who it is they're reading about.

How do I upload a photo?
Click on Photos in the Main Menu and then use either Main Photo or Library Photo browse buttons to find the photo on your computer that you want to upload. Click on the Upload Image button to upload the photo. If you add a new photo to Main Photo and there's already a photo there then the existing Main Photo will move into the Library Photo section. You can also swap any Library Photo with a Main Photo by clicking on the 'main image?' link under the Library Photo.

What is the difference between Main and Library photos?
Your Main Photo is the one attached to your profile and is also the one seen in other members search results. Remember that a lot of other members use the 'photos first' variable when they search so not having a Main Photo means that you'll be a long way down in their search results list.

You can then have up to 12 Library photos but these can only be seen by Platinum members. This is a great chance to show people what you're really like in terms of things you like doing, places you like visiting etc. It ads more to 'your' story by showing more of your personal world. It also helps when you're looking at the profile of someone you're interested in - just look at their Library and see what sort of story it tells.

What do you look for in a Main Photo?
This is your most important photo as it's attached to your profile. Ideally it needs to be a front on picture of your face where your facial features are easily recognisable. We do however allow a larger boy picture where a pet is included.

We do not allow Main Photos to include other people, kids, scenic shots etc.

What is allowed in Library Photos?
What is and is not acceptable is basically common sense and anything approaching borderline will be rejected. These photos tell your story so anything like holiday snaps and activities with friends and of course pictures of your pets are fine. Our Terms and Conditions give a complete list of what is not acceptable however some examples are:

copyrighted photos, photos from magazines or the net
improper images or offensive content
photos containing contact details such as mobile numbers, email and postal addresses
commercial advertising or other work related self promotion
any non live images such as cartoon characters, pictures and drawings
any editing to the photo

Why was one of my photos rejected?
All new photos are checked in Admin and this takes no longer than 24 hours. If a photo is rejected by Admin then it is simply deleted from your Main/Library photo sections and no email is sent informing you of this. We don't keep a record of why it was deleted so please don't mail us asking what the reason was. We find in all honesty that 99% of the time it's obvious and that the member was simply 'pushing the envelope'.

In the case of a photo that seriously breaks this site's Terms and conditions then the responsible profile will be deleted. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more detail on photo rejection.

I can't login?
You might be using the wrong password. Use the 'forgot password?' link on the Homepage.
You've not visited the site for more than 4 months. Inactive profiles are automatically deleted.
Your profile has been deleted by Admin because it broke our Terms and Conditions when you edited it or posted a photo.

How private is my personal information?
We take privacy and security very seriously and employ the best technology available to ensure this happens. Our email service allows you to communicate with other members without ever knowing each others real email addresses. Naturally, we would never under any circumstances give your personal details, such as your email address, to another member or a third party. For full details please review our Privacy Policy.

Can I recover a deleted email?
To protect the privacy of our members, message deletion is permanent so a message cannot be recovered once deleted.

I have an email alert to my regular mailbox but there is no message in my site mailbox?
The member who sent you a message has now left the site and when a member leaves, to protect their privacy, all messages and flirts associated with that member will have been automatically deleted along with their profile.

There are two reasons for a member to 'suddenly' leave the site. The first is because the site is very successful, some people are here for only a short time as they are able to find a match quickly. The second reason is that Admin has deleted their profile because they were doing something to break the Terms and Conditions of the site such as scamming.

I have a flirt alert to my regular mailbox but there is no flirt in my site flirts box?
The member who sent you a flirt has now left the site and when a member leaves, to protect their privacy, all messages and flirts associated with that member will have been automatically deleted along with their profile.

There are two reasons for a member to 'suddenly' leave the site. The first is because the site is very successful, some people are here for only a short time as they are able to find a match quickly. The second reason is that Admin has deleted their profile because they were doing something to break the Terms and Conditions of the site such as scamming.

How do I stop alerts for new messages/flirts going to my regular mailbox.
Go to Edit Profile in the Main Menu and click on Preferences at the top right of the screen. You can cancel alerts there for both messages and flirts.

How do I alert Admin to fake profiles or scamming?
In order to keep the site safe and secure, we urge our members to contact us about any sort of abuse/scamming on the site. Your details are naturally kept in the strictest of confidences as you'd expect. Click on the Contact tab and write to us if you think that a new message you've received looks suspicious. It's often the male members who are targeted by bogus females, often men themselves, who are usually looking to get money sent to them. The rule in every case is just contact us at Admin where we'll immediately delete any of these kinds of profiles.

Unfortunately it's one of the banes of the present technological world that we have to put up with but the more you can help us, the less of a problem it'll be. This also applies to any profile that you come across that you feel looks fake. We vet all profiles on the site but one of the drawbacks of being human is that we can make mistakes and sometimes the odd one does get through. Again, any help that you can give us to make this a better site will be much appreciated.

Why do messages sometimes disappear?
When a member leaves the site and their profile is deleted then, to protect their privacy, everything associated with that profile such as sent and received messages are also automatically deleted. This means that messages in your in-box from that member will disappear. In similar fashion, when you decide to leave, then everything connected to you on the site will be removed.

If you feel that you want to keep a record of a particular message string then we suggest that you print it out.

How do I block a member?
You can block a member by clicking on Messages on the Main Menu and then on the Block Member icon next to the message. It's the upper body with the red x. That member will not be able to contact you again. To unblock, simply do the reverse.

If the problem is serious, then we ask that they report it to us and not just use the email bar. Just blocking the person who has caused a serious problem could mean that he/she will just continue doing the same thing with other members. Please however bear in mind that, as explained more detail in our Terms and Conditions, we will not get involved in run of the mill disputes on the site between dating parties.

How can I send a thank you to UK Asia Dating?
Many members want to send us a thank you mail after meeting someone special on our site. We do want to hear from you as it makes us feel that we have succeeded in doing what we are trying to do: simply bringing people together. We sometimes select a couple of sentences from a 'thank you' mails to display on the site
